The Castle at Edgehill opened under new ownership on October 1 and the management is holding an open day next weekend to celebrate.
The event will be held on Sunday October 27 from noon, (not this weekend as reported in today’s Banbury Guardian).
Indievictual Ltd is the new owner of the pub, which forms an integral part of British history because of the Battle of Edgehill.
Mark Higgs, managing director of Indievictual, has more than ten years’ experience in the trade and has run and operated several village pubs, transforming them into popular destinations.
His current pub, The Fox at Farthinghoe, was a finalist in the recent 2013 PMA Top 50 Gastropub Awards.
Having gained vital experience operating Indievictual – a million pound business – Mr Higgs has expanded his professional portfolio into outdoor catering, successfully establishing himself at venues and events including V Festival.
Now, with partner Claire Cooper, Mark has made it his mission to transform the Castle Inn at Edgehill.
New manager Rob Patchett will accompany and assist Mark and Claire with his vast experience from pub, restaurant and hotel management from all over the world.
Next Sunday’s event will introduce the team and welcome people to the new and improved establishment, with nibbles, tours of the tower and live entertainment from 4pm.
In conjunction with Hook Norton Brewery, a major refurbishment is planned for January 2014 which will see the repositioning of the bar and toilets, two new dining areas and an overhaul of all the bedrooms.
