Hairdressers in training show avant-garde style at Banbury and Bicester College
An avant-garde brief was given to the students who were encouraged to be as creative and outrageous as possible at the college’s salon on Broughton road, on Tuesday.
The college’s photography students held a photo shoot after all the models had been styled.

Sonia Taylor, 25, is currently studying NVQ level 2 hairdressing.
She said: “My avant-garde creation was inspired by the 1950s.
“I think the styling in that era is very glamorous, especially the Hollywood stars like Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly.

“The teachers have been really helpful and showed me some new techniques like barrel curls.
“I’ve really enjoyed the creativity of this brief and I’ve learnt loads.”
Sam Smith, vocational training assessor at the college, said: “Today has been a fabulously fun day – everyone’s hard work has really paid off.

“This allowed them to be as creative as they want to be and try techniques and styles that really interest them.
“The brief also entailed students creating mood boards and presenting their ideas to the teaching staff.
“By treating the process like a real life employment situation, we’ve motivated our learners and they’ve developed key skills that will give them the edge in the employment market.”
