As heavy rain fall continues, flooding is intensifying across Banburyshire today (Saturday).

Minor road closures continue to be a problem for motorists with sections of roads impassable in Cropredy, between Barford St John and Barford St Michael and elsewhere.

An amber flood warning remains in place on the River Cherwell through Banbury.

This morning the Environment Agency issued a statement saying: “The river and flooding forecast is as follows: The River Cherwell has been steadily dropping since yesterday morning and has returned back within banks in many locations. However levels are likely to rise again following overnight rain. No property flooding is currently expected. The weather forecast is to expect some heavy rain through this morning and early afternoon, clearing to leave a mainly dry evening. More heavy rain is expected tomorrow afternoon.”
