A leading Banbury firefighter is stressing the importance of having a correctly-fitted child car seat following a crash on the M40 last Monday.

Two Banbury crews and another from Deddington helped rescue a one-year-old boy from a Fiat Punto which flipped over on the southbound carriageway at about 5pm. Kerry Blair, incident commander, said: “This incident should act as a reminder to everybody that it is absolutely essential to wear a seatbelt and ensure that a child’s car seat is correctly fitted. People could risk serious injury or death if they act against this advice.”
