The fire caused substantial damage to the Oak Cash and Carry store on Beaumont Road last night (Friday).

Two fire engines remain at the scene of last night’s (Friday) fire at the Oak Cash and Carry store in Banbury, which has left the building severely damaged.

Traffic has been heavy throughout the day following the incident on the Beaumont Road Industrial Estate, and has seen queues leading from the top of Ruscote Avenue towards Banbury Cross Retail Park and Southam Road.

An update from firefighters indicate work is still ongoing to establish the cause of the fire and earlier this morning they confirmed no acetylene cylinders were involved as initially thought. As well as Oak Cash and Carry, neighbouring business Jem’s Tool Hire was also affected by the fire, suffering damage to part of its roof structure.
