Pupils and staff at schools across Banburyshire celebrated World Book Day in style as characters from Peter Pan to suffragettes took part in the event.
Teachers at Sibford School near Banbury were not going to let their pupils have all the fun when it came to dressing up as favourite literary characters last Thursday and staff arrived as characters from J M Barrie’s Peter Pan.
Youngsters and staff at Winchcombe Farm Day Nursery in Upper Tysoe dressed up as dragons, tigers, princesses and knights to mark the occasion and pupils and staff from Fritwell Primary all dressed up as their favourite book characters, paying £1 for the privilege. A cake sale was also held which raised £225 for Book Aid International.
As part of their World Book Day activities, pupils and staff at Bloxham CoE School were dressed as characters from the Harry Potter books.
In Banbury, St John’s Priory School celebrated the birthday of zany author Dr Seuss by dressing up as his characters and children from Child First Nursery embraced the day by dressing up and visiting Waterstones in Castle Quay.
