Thames Valley Police has seen a 22.5 per cent reduction in domestic burglaries in the Cherwell area for the period of April 1 to August 5 compared to the same period last year.

The force also has a 45.5 per cent detection rate for burglaries.

Detective Sergeant James Bonner of Banbury CID said: “I’m really pleased with the figures and how hard the team is working. We’re always trying to achieve more and we need the public’s help to do that by being aware and keeping their premises secure and informing us.

“If you see anything - please call us and we’ll check it out. Don’t hesitate because you don’t want to bother us; these are the sort of things we need to be bothered with.”

Those with any information about crimes, call 101 or 999 if it is an emergency.
