If you were out and about in Banbury yesterday (Thursday) you may have spotted a troupe of well known actors including Homeland star Damian Lewis.
The stars were in town working on a new BBC2 adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s bestselling novel Wolf Hall which is being filmed at Broughton Castle over the summer.
The Banbury Guardian’s Corrine Murdoch bumped in to Damian at the Whateley Hall Hotel and the actors were also spotted enjoying the Banbury nightlife in San Carlo restaurant and at The Swan pub on South Bar Street.
Filming for the drama will also take place at Chasleton House near Chipping Norton.
The six-part show will chart the rise of Thomas Cromwell from butcher’s son to the highest echelons of Henry’s VIII’s court in the 1530s when he became the King’s chief adviser and helped usher in a series of religious changes which led to the banning of many Catholic religious practices and the dissolution of the monasteries.
