All three Crocus Concerts held in Banburyshire during the past few weeks as part of a Banbury Rotary Club project to stamp out polio across the globe were a great success.
The campaign supports the Rotary International’s End Polio Now Campaign and schools in the area also planted crocuses as part of the event. At the first St Mary’s concert 100 singers performed and at the second 150. At Tudor Hall’s spring concert about 90 girls performed. The schools taking part were Banbury Academy, Blessed George Napier School, Bloxham School, Chenderit School, Frank Wise School, North Oxfordshire Academy, Sibford School, Tudor Hall and The Warriner School.
Rotarian Fred Riches said: “It was a brilliant team effort by all schools and it looks as if the total raised will be around £3,250 which, when tripled by the Bill & Melissa Gates Foundation, will mean almost £10,000.”
