A large quantity of cigarettes were stolen from Sainsbury’s supermarket in Chipping Norton yesterday morning (Monday).

Officers were called at about 2am to the store in Market Place after reports of the break-in. Offenders made their way into the store and stole the cigarettes from behind the till before leaving the scene.

PC Simon Warn, investigating the incident, said: “I would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the Chipping Norton area at this time, who may be able to provide us with information about this incident.

“Did you see anyone around the area acting suspiciously or anyone leaving the area? If so, then please get in touch as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should call Thames Valley Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
