Banbury firefighters were called to assist Northamptonshire fire crews with a water rescue between Chipping Warden and Appletree at 2pm on December 24.
Upon arrival they found a car marooned in flood water coming from a stream that had burst its banks covering the roadway. The car contained two adults and a child and water was entering the passenger compartment of the car. The occupants were rescued by firefighters wearing dry suits and who towed the car out of the floodwater using a 4x4 vehicle.
Watch manager Tim Cox said “Drivers should not risk driving through flood water - it may be deeper than you think.”
