Cherwell District Council has announced Spiceball North, Mill and Spiceball Park Road car parks have now reopened in Banbury after water levels subsided.

The car parks were closed yesterday afternoon (Thhursday) after the Environment Agency placed an amber flood warning on the River Cherwell.

The river remains on amber flood alert covering Charwelton to just above Upper Heyford, including Woodford Halse, Edgcote, Cropredy, Marston St Lawrence, Banbury, Kings Sutton and Hook Norton.

Some minor roads had to be closed yesterday in Barford St Michael, Cropredy and elsewhere due to surface water.

A video taken this week by glider pilot Damien Dyer, of AirFrame Photography, shows the extent of the water levels in the Cherwell Valley. Click here to see the video.
