More than 3,000 people enjoyed a huge range of entertainment at this year’s Brackley Carnival, held on Saturday.

Town mayor Elaine Wiltshire officially opened the event following a procession from the old Sawmills site to Magdalen College School. Those who came to enjoy the day were spoilt for choice with a wide range of entertainment including live music and a funfair. The main arena included acts such as Walking with Dinosaurs and Clown Bluey.

Mark Stopps, chairman, said the day was a huge success. He said: “It was a great day and the event aims to provide something for the town and for people of all ages.

“Starlight Dance Academy once again gave a fantastic show in the main arena and the community stage gave us a taste for the forthcoming Fringe Festival as well as offering local performers a chance to perform.

“I would like to thank the members of Team Carnival for all their hard work and all our volunteers who make this event happen.”

Procession winners were Waynflete Infants’ School and Brackley Junior School, whose joint entry was entitled Rio to coincide with the World Cup in Brazil.
