POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a lorry theft in Bodicote on Friday.

At about 5.30pm on Friday the victim parked the white Leyland DAF 45 in the yard of The Flyover Farm shop in White Post Road, but at 6.20pm it was noticed that it had been stolen.

The vehicle is a rigid lorry with a Hiab black crane on the back.

Around the time the vehicle was stolen, a man of medium build wearing a hooded top was seen in the area.

The stolen lorry was driven through the yard and out across a field onto Oxford Road and was later recovered in Circuit Close, Willenhall, West Midlands.

PC Jo Hurst from Banbury police station said: “The fence onto the Oxford Road looks as if it had been cut to allow for this vehicle to be driven away.

“I would like to hear from anyone who noticed a man cutting a fence alongside Oxford Road, or if you noticed a vehicle fitting the above description being driven in the area.”

Anyone with information should call the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 101 and ask to speak to PC Hurst.

Those who do not want to speak directly to the police can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.

No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
