Bloxham Village Museum has joined the new Thames Valley Museums Group initiative which was launched last Friday, October 11.
With Arts Council funding, the group’s aim is to encourage visitors to be aware of the exceptional range of museums in the region celebrating art, sport, archaeology and history.
Announced by Ed Vaizey, the UK Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries, in Henley-on-Thames, the group brings together more than 60 museums within the three counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
Peter Barwell, Bloxham Village Museum’s registrar, was excited to be part of the initiative.“Bloxham is most fortunate to have a museum of its own – the envy of many other villages,” he said.
Mr Vaizey said: “I am delighted to be launching this excellent initiative.
“Over five million people already visit these museums each year and it is exactly this sort of collaboration that will further increase visitor numbers, encourage greater opportunities for international tourists and showcase the sheer range of subjects these museums cover.”
