AN ECLECTIC mix of music is coming to The Theatre, Chipping Norton in the new year.

On Saturday, January 19 at 7.45pm Mardi Gras Big Band will treat its audience to jazz, blues, Afro-Cuban swing and an all-round party atmosphere.

The German constellation, led by the charismatic Doc Wenz, is a vibrant jazz, funk, soul and rock ensemble with a distinct New Orleans feel and its performances feature an array of different instruments, from sousaphone and trombone to guitars and turntables.

For the band’s Chippy gig, the audience can look forward to a musical feast with a range of hits from a career that has seen festival performances across the globe and 100,000 albums sold.

The theatre promises a “foot-tapping evening that brings together the vivid colour of world music, the craziness of Tom Waits and Captain Beefheart, and the vintage sound of Afro-Cuban big bands”.
