Banbury Cross Players’ recent production of Calendar Girls, which was re-scheduled from November 2012 to November 2013 due to flooding at The Mill Arts Centre, was shortlisted for a prestigious award.
The production was listed in the top three for the Tim Firth Award for Best Amateur Production at the recent Afternoon Tea with the Calendar Girls event – held at the Pavilions of Harrogate on May 11.
The special event, which celebrates amateur productions of the hit play is hosted by Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and the original Calendar Girls.
The event was a celebration of the highly successful amateur dramatic stage-show version of the Calendar Girls film, which has raised more than £100,000 for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
All the original Calendar Girls were present at the gala, as well as Tim Firth, the author of the stage show.
Cornish theatre company Sterts was named the overall winner but BCP director Clare Lester said: “We are delighted our efforts were recognised in this way.”
