Banbury’s ECB National t20 dreams were washed out at a rain-soaked Kia Oval today (Friday).
Going into the finals stage of the competition for the first time in their history, Banbury were the only one of the four finalists to bat on The Oval wicket as rain failed to ease throughout a frustrating day.
As it turned out, even Banbury only got to face 6.2 of the planned 20 overs in their semi final against Wimbledon before umpires took the players off the pitch.
Banbury and Wimbledon then faced the lottery of 10 bowls each at stumps in an indoor venue to decide who would progress to the final.
Wimbledon prgoressed 3-1 to set up a final against Ormskirk who beat Chester-le-Street in the second bowl-out of the day.
