A NEW e-mail alert scheme which will inform people about inspections at healthcare facilities within a chosen area has been backed by Banbury MP Sir Tony Baldry.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC), which is the independent regulator of health and social care, is inviting people to sign up to the scheme to receive updates on planned and published inspections within a chosen area.

The idea has been backed by Sir Tony who said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for local people to stay up-to-date about health and social care provision at the places that matter to them.

“We all want to make sure that the care we receive, or we arrange for others, is of the best possible quality and the Care Quality Commission’s new email alerts will make it easier for anyone to get involved in the process and become more informed about care in their area.”

Dame Jo Williams, CQC chairman, said: “The new email alerts are an important step in making it as easy as possible for people to find the information they want.
