The above picture of sheep on a frosty Chipping Norton hill, taken by the Banbury Guardian’s very own receptionist Maureen Tyrrell, was commended by professional photographers in a nationwide Facebook group.

The group, called Photo Hub, receives daily posts of photos taken from all over the world and Maureen’s crisp winter scene entitled Sheep at Chipping Norton was the administrators’ overall favourite in the group’s most recent winter competition. Maureen, 64, was delighted with the victory and is hoping she can improve even further as she spends more time enjoying her hobby in the future.

“I’m thrilled and humbled to have won the challenge,” she said. “As a real amateur trying to learn, this has just given me some encouragement.

“ I always put something in every month but I never think I’m going to win so I’m really chuffed.”
