A fundraiser from Bodicote is getting ready for a ten-day African adventure in search of mountain gorillas.
Tricia Campbell will visit the Virunga volcanic mountains in Uganda and the ‘Impenetrable Forest of Bwindi’ on January 26. She is looking to raise £1,000 for Dogs for the Disabled in Banbury.
Mrs Campbell, who works at Banbury Town Council, said: “It is a wonderful charity which works not only with disabled people of all ages, but very successfully with autistic children and older people with dementia.
“We have been involved with them for many years and are always amazed at how these wonderful dogs can transform people’s lives.”
If she surpasses the £1,000 target, Mrs Campbell will use the extra money to give to the Gorilla Organisation, set up to help conserve their decreasing population. It is believed less than 800 are in the wild, and they are threatened every day by civil war and pressure on their environment.
