A mother and daughter from Banbury will aim to dig their way to victory when they appear on the BBC programme The Big Allotment Challenge tonight (Tuesday).
Shirley and Victoria Minnear of Waller Drive will join nine other contestants in the series on BBC Two as they face a number of challenges in a walled garden within the grounds of Mapledurham House in Oxfordshire. The programme starts at 8pm.
During the series, the pair will be tested on their horticultural know-how and skills as they plot, plant and prune their allotment to harvest a series of prize-worthy vegetables, fruits and flowers.
They must also prove their ability in the kitchen by making jams, curds, chutneys using the produce from their patch. The pair that fails to impress each week will leave the allotment for good.
