Gold medallist to visit Spiceball Leisure Centre

A COMMONWEALTH gold medallist will visit Banbury’s Spiceball Leisure Centre later this month.

Squash medallist Sue Wright will be at the centre from 6pm on Saturday, March 17 as part of Cherwell District Council’s participation in the Sport Maker project, run in conjunction with the Oxfordshire Sports Partnership. Backed by the British Olympic Association and £4 million of National Lottery funding, Sport Makers are people who help arrange sporting events in their communities. Anyone who wants to become a Sport Maker can attend the Banbury event.

Cherwell District Council’s lead member for environment, Cllr James Macnamara, said: “This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in encouraging people to get involved in sport to learn first hand from someone who’s reached the top of their game.”
