June Morris, nee Meadham, sent us this photo of the 1st Grimsbury Guides and Rangers taken in May 1953. The girls were captured in London’s Trafalgar Square before leaving for the World Guide Centre Our Chalet at Adelboden in Switzerland. Mrs Morris, then 17, said: “It was a marvellous holiday of which I have very happy memories. Now, 61 years later I am going with Trefoil Guild Anglia Region to Our Chalet. This time staying in a Gartenhaus with a bed, not sleeping on the floor in the attic!” Mrs Morris joined the Guides when she was 11 and stayed until she had her two sons.
In 1972 she came back to run the 2nd Banbury Guides. Since then she has taken many positions, both in Wales and now in Abingdon. If you are pictured in the photograph and would like to get in touch with Mrs Morris, call 01295 227786.
