A new English language school has been set up in Banbury to help the diverse communities in the town.
Now English! is based in Parsons Street and officially opened on September 7. It offers classes and private lessons in general English, business English, English for Specific Purposes and English examination preparation and practice.
Matt Hodgson, director of studies, said: “For me the main aim of NOW English! is to provide English language tuition in the community for the community. By helping people improve their English language skills in terms of reading, writing, listening and speaking, we help them to integrate further into the local community, to feel part of the community and to be able to contribute to it too.
“While we certainly want to attract students from abroad going forward, we have a very diverse non-native community in and around Banbury, comprising Poles, Hungarians, Slovenians and more.”
Mr Hodgson taught classes from his home in Banbury before he made the decision to move his business to Parsons Street. He has taught English to Spanish, French, Polish, Italian, Greek, Hungarian and Arabic speakers for more than six years in France, Spain and the UK.
He is joined at the school by teachers Jeff Thompson and Gerry Evans.
Mr Thompson will be teaching adult classes and has lots of experience teaching business English.
Mr Evans will be taking responsibility for children’s tuition as well as adult tuition.
The school is currently enrolling now until September 27 for weekend classes starting September 28-29 for the autumn term.
Mr Hodgson added: “I’m really keen to set up corporate partnerships with businesses in Banbury, hopefully we can help them and their employees learn English.”
