There has been a further arrest of a 20-year-old man in relation to warrants carried out in Banbury this morning (Tuesday).

As a result of information gathered by the Kingfisher Team in Oxford, Thames Valley Police has today carried out a series of warrants in Banbury relating to child sexual exploitation.

The 20-year-old is the sixth man from Banbury to be arrested on suspicion of sexual offences.

The other five men arrested are a 20-year-old man, a 19 year-old man, two 21-year-old men and an 18-year-old man.

All six are currently in police custody.

Banbury MP Sir Tony Baldry said: ““This is clearly very disturbing news.

“However, I think it is very important in the interests of everyone and particularly the victims that justice is done and that there is no rush to judgment.

“I think it would be sensible for us all to wait to see whether anyone is charged, who is charged and what exact offences they are charged with and even then in the interest of justice it is obviously important that we say nothing that may prejudice a fair trial.”
