A section of Banbury High Street is currently closed after a camper van left the road and collided with a woman pedestrian before careering into the window of Henry’s Menswear, severely damaging the shop front.

The incident happened at 10:45am.

The woman sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by ambulance staff.

Structural engineers are currently in attendance assessing the damage to the shop and the road is expected to remain closed for two hours.

Henry’s owner Malcolm Douglas said staff at the store heard a sound of screeching tyres then a sound “like a bomb going off” as the motor home careered into the window.

He said: “It sounded like a bomb going off, I came down stairs thinking that’s what had happened.

“It blew the window all the way into the middle of the shop.

“There was glass everywhere and all the stuff from the shop window was everywhere.”

Mr Douglas said the staff are all unhurt but shaken up.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who saw the crash to get in touch by calling 101.

More updates will be posted here as we have them.
