A passion for stamps has led a quartet of pupils at Bishop Carpenter Primary School in North Newington winning the Schools Trophy in a national competition run by the Stamp Active Network, a voluntary organisation promoting the hobby. The Trophy is awarded to the school which achieves the highest marks from any three members in a school stamp club.

The four are Eva James, Beatrice Shelley, Dorothy Wild and Ellie Dodge, who also received a cup for best in her age group, the Kidstamps Cup for best overall entry and a prize of £50 to spend on stamps.
