The Banbury and District branch of Samaritans is appealing for new members to help provide a listening ear for those needing help.

The branch is to hold an Information Morning on Saturday at the Banbury premises in Albert Street.

“If you are interested in finding out what we do and whether you could help, either as a listener or a support volunteer, please email Gill on banbury@samaritans.org, or phone 07473 581379 to book a place,” said director Davina Birkbeck. “We always need new people to help keep our numbers up.

“So many people have it in them to be a Samaritans volunteer – just to be there when someone in need reaches out,” she said.

“To touch another person’s life when it really matters can be deeply rewarding. And it can change the volunteer’s life, too – from the satisfaction of helping someone through a tough time to learning new skills or meeting like-minded colleagues. You get a lot back.”
