Banbury firefighters will form a picket line at their Cope Road station tomorrow morning (Thursday) in response to ongoing government disputes over pensions.

Representatives from the Fire Brigade Union (FBU) have been trying for three years to negotiate suitable proposals with the government and fire minister Brandon Lewis, but have been told the government will implement a new scheme without further negotiations.

Firefighters will be at Banbury Fire Station from 9am-10am as part of the nationwide 24-hour strike, the longest yet in the campaign. Another strike is set to take place on Saturday, June 21 between 10am and 5pm.
