Banbury Crocus concerts prove a success

The concerts, spread across two days, featured nine local school choirs and two grand finales with some truly original song choices.

Blessed George Napier started proceedings, performing songs by Frankie Lymon and Mika.

Chenderit school chose an unusual number performing Seasons of Love by Skid Row and Suddenly Seymour from the motion picture The Little Shop of Horrors.

The Thursday evening show was opened by Banbury Academy students who chose Human by Brit-award winner Rag and Bone Man.

North Oxfordshire Academy performed a choral version of Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics.

The money raised by the concerts, over £2,000 will go towards the Rotary Clubs’ campaign to rid the world of polio through the inoculation of children who have a dab of purple dye placed on their fingers once inoculated.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will also donate a further £2 for every £1 raised enabling some 18,000 children to receive the vaccination.
