Chiltern Railways are advising commuters from Banbury to avoid travelling to London’s Marylebone Station unless essential following a cable fire last night (Sunday).

About two metres of signalling cable in the tunnel into the station has burned away meaning the signalling system is not working. No Chiltern Railways services are running to or from the station, and engineers are currently on site to fix the problem.

Disruptions are expected this morning (Monday) and until further notice.

Anyone travelling from Banbury to London should travel to Reading with CrossCountry and then alighting First Great Western services to London Paddington.
