Creative minds keen to try something new this autumn need look no further, as from next month Banbury’s Mill Arts Centre will be buzzing with activity.
From the middle of September, the art hub will come to life with the start of an array of weekly classes for all abilities, covering everything from drawing and sketching to guitar classes and creative writing.
Several weekly courses in the centre’s autumn programme kick off in the week commencing September 16.
Rachel Cronin, the centre’s arts education manager, said: “This autumn is set to be a great term and we have some really exciting new classes happening.
“We have beginner level classes in painting, drawing, textiles and water colour for those who fancy trying something crafty and Patrissia Cuberos and Matt Sullivan are also ready to guide students through singing and playing the guitar.”
Sue Green will teach those who would like to broaden their sewing skills various textile techniques such as stitch skills, printing, couching, and ink effects in textile for beginners.
For those who have caught the sewing bug after BBC 2’s Great British Sewing Bee and would like to develop their skills even further and learn to make their own clothes, dress maker Briar Noonan will be on hand to guide them through a sewing pattern from cutting out fabric to finishing seams.
Budding authors can sign up to Meg Harper’s creative writing courses as the sessions come packed with exercises designed to get your creative juices flowing.
Later in the year, Sue Collins will be teaching two short courses on a Wednesday evening in jewellery making. These are intermediate classes and are perfect for anyone who has attended one of the In a Day workshops. She will also be teaching some beginners workshops as well – Silver Ring in a Day in October and Silver Earrings in a Day the month after.
The programme also features a deep relaxation course, designed to alleviate the stresses of everyday life.
