The Banbury branch of a national American diner chain has closed after less than a year.
Staff at Ed’s Easy Diner, at Banbury Gateway Shopping Park, turned up to work today, Wednesday, to find the restaurant closed and a note on the door saying it had closed with ‘immediate effect’.
It is understood a meeting is due to be held with staff today.
The closure is believed to be connected to the sale of 33 of the chain’s restaurants to food industry tycoon Ranjit Boparan, owner of the restaurant chain, Giraffe.
The remaining 26 sites, which include Banbury, are thought to have been placed into adminstration and are understood to be closing with the loss of 379 jobs.
Last month the firm appointed KPMG to search for new investors.
The Banbury branch only opened its doors in November last year.
The chain sells burgers, hot dogs, milkshakes, fries, breakfast and desserts.
