A Banbury company is taking the world of antiques into the digital arena with the launch of a revolutionary new service.
Looking for Antiques is a website that has been specifically designed to source antique furniture and collectables from the UK for the public and dealers alike.
And so far it is proving to be a huge success with more than £1 million of stock and 34 dealers nationwide involved within three months of the business launching.
The business is the brainchild of founding partners and brothers Mark and Jonathan Groethe. Mark is a furniture restorer with a workshop on the Southam Road, while Jonathan has a background in sales and marketing.
Jonathan said: “As full-time furniture restorers, we experience all too often the headache and frustration of sourcing antiques, so we decided to set up Looking For Antiques.”
The site means that you can find items from furniture to fine arts to toys without having to scour shops or visit auction rooms, make requests for dealers to find goods for you and take part in live online chats.
Jonathan said: “Our aim is to help customers find or request, buy and deliver antiques all under one convenient umbrella, by leveraging a network of antique dealers across the country, and selling through a single destination.
“We make sure that each dealer selling through our site is an experienced antique tradesperson. We hope, when you search Looking For Antiques, you’ll enjoy our cleaner, fresher, more focused approach. No irritating adverts, no unnecessary information, no spam mail and no nonsense. Just well presented antiques and collectables for sale at all price points across the UK.”
They also use a specialised antique delivery company to ensure items arrive in perfect condition.
Jonathan and Mark designed and built the website themselves and say they are pleased with progress so far.
Jonathan said: “It’s going well so far in a short period, Now it’s about raising brand awareness and letting people know we’re here.”
