TWO Banbury School teachers have been given prestigious awards recognising their abilities.
English teacher Christine Hamer and languages tutor Tanya Kollner were both commended under a national scheme, Mrs Hamer picking up the 'Excellent Teacher' award and Ms Kollner being recognised as an 'Advanced Skills' teacher.

The awards come from training and education services company VT Group and Mrs Hamer is the first in Oxfordshire to pick up the Excellent Teacher prize.

She said: "I am so proud to be presented with this award.

"I love teaching and I am still learning all the time as well.

"This scheme helped to ensure that the progress I am making with the students is in all the right areas to help them."

On her award, Ms Kollner said: "I am over the moon.

"My passion for teaching will always be in the class room with the students.

"Sometimes as you move along the career path in education you find yourself removed from the class room too much and this scheme for advanced skills as shown me that my love will always be the actual teaching in the class room."
