NORTHAMPTONSHIRE Police has joined forces with an initiative aiming to encourage children to wear a cycling helmet.
The Helmet Watch scheme, run by the Bicycle Helmet Initiative Trust (BHIT), aims to reward safety conscious children who are spotted wearing a helmet.

Children are rewarded with a pack containing a puzzle tray or a yoyo, a bookmark providing details on the correct fitment of helmets, and the chance to enter into a national draw to win bigger prizes.

Police Community Support Officers will be giving packs to children - up to 15 years old - who are spotted wearing a helmet while cycling.

The campaign was launched at the beginning of August and will run until December 1, covering the summer holidays and darkening evenings.
