STAIRWAY DEATH: Bebbington in court

ANTONY Bebbington, the man charged with the murder of Paul Howkins, appeared in court this morning.
Bebbington, 24 of Ruscote Arcade, spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address at the brief Banbury Magistrates' Court hearing.

He was remanded in custody and will appear at Oxford Crown Court tomorrow (Friday) to make an application for bail.

Mr Howkins, 25 and of the Hardwick area of Banbury, was found at the bottom of a stairwell in Ruscote Arcade with serious head injuries on Monday night.

He was treated in intensive care at the Horton General Hospital but died yesterday morning.
