A BANBURYSHIRE adventurer has completed a mammoth journey to raise cash for charity.
Adrew Fairbairn, 52, from Overthorpe, spent more than three weeks travelling by kayak, foot and bicycle in an extended version of the route from Land's End to John O'Groats.

He began the 1,200-mile mission from the Scilly Isles on June 1 and finished standing at the top of the lighthouse at Muckle Flugga in Shetland on Saturday.

Mr Fairbairn is a member of Banbury Rotary Club which is supporting Leonard Cheshire Disability as its chairty of the year. He is aiming to raise £25,000 for Africa-based charity School For All, a partnership project between Leonard Cheshire and the Rotary Club.

"I'm not sure how much we've raised at the moment, I think it's about £7,000 but the trek is only really the first part of it," said Mr Fairbairn.

"I'm now going off to do various presentations about what we've done and raise awareness and sponsorship through that."
