Police lose stray dogs

POLICE authorities will hand over their responsibility for stray dogs to local authorities next Sunday (April 6).
Previously it was the duty of police forces including Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Thames Valley Police to receive stray dogs handed in by the public.

However from Sunday the responsibility will fall to local authorities under section 68 of the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act.
