THE May Day Bank Holiday was celebrated across Banburyshire with a variety of public events to draw revellers out of their homes.
The festivities got underway in Banbury on Friday when youngsters took part in a parade through the town before laying a flower May Day garland at the feet of the Fine Lady statue.

Today (Monday), further celebrations were held in Hornton when residents and people from the surrounding area descended upon the village to enjoy the traditional afternoon of activities.

Villager Anne Joyner, who was helping out on the white elephant stall, said: "We have been very lucky with the weather because the rain has stopped. The villager co-operates and everyone does their bit.

"Hornton's May Day celebrations are extremely traditional and for a small village we get a lot of people coming here. It is what makes living somewhere like this special."
