A MAN is in hospital with critical injuries to his head, pelvis and chest after a crash last night (Wednesday).
Emergency services were called to the A423 near Fenny Compton at 7.35pm after a lorry and a car collided.

A VW Golf and Volvo box van crashed at the Fenny Compton turning by The Wharf Inn, leaving the 43-year-old Banbury-based driver of the Golf i

The driver of the van was unhurt but police described him as "very shaken" by the incident.

The A423 was closed for several hours while emergency services attended the incident and was reopened at 12.50am

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "On arrival at the scene, crews found a lorry and a car that had been in collision.

"The driver of the car, a man believed to be in his 40's, was trapped in the vehicle. Once freed, he was treated on scene for injuries to his pelvis, chest and head.

"The man was immobilised using a spinal board and neck collar before being transferred, via blue lights, to University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire for further assessment and treatment."

"The hospital was pre-alerted to the man's arrival and of his injuries."

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact them on 01926 415415.
