THE Banbury Guardian has been praised by police for its part in the conviction of a man for dangerous driving.
Sandor Ferenci, of Fulwell Close in Banbury, posted a film of himself on video sharing website YouTube riding a Yamaha motorbike at speeds of up to 130mph and driving dangerously in the Banbury area. The incidents happened in June.

The Banbury Guardian discovered the video and tipped off police, leading to Ferenci, 28, being jailed at Oxford Crown Court today (Monday).

He will serve two 12-week sentences for dangerous driving concurrently, has been disqualified from driving for two years and will have to re-take his test. A third offence was also taken into consideration.

Ferenci was already being investigated for reports of dangerous driving before the Banbury Guardian alerted police to the video.

PC Richard Medway, investigating the incidents, said: "The Banbury Guardian highlighted the situation and brought the issue to the fore.

"Had it not been for the article we probably would have linked the cases eventually but this certainly helped."
