A DISTRACTION burglary in Chipping Warden at the weekend has resulted in police appealing for information.
The incident took place at about 12.45 to 12.50pm on Sunday October 5 in the village when a man called at the home of a 77-year-old woman in Arbury Banks and was granted entry.

The offender claimed that the woman had won £10 in a local raffle but said he needed her to give him some change from a £20 note so that she could receive her prize.

He then asked for a glass of water and asked to hold the woman's purse. When she refused he grabbed the bag her purse was in and made off in the direction of the A361.

He was a white man, in his late 30s to early 40s and thick set. He was about 5ft 10ins tall and wore a blue jumper.

Witnesses to this incident or those with information should call Northamptonshire police on 08453 700700 or alternatively information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
