RESIDENTS in Chipping Norton are being urged to take pride in their town and support a spring clean.
The clean-up is being assisted by West Oxfordshire District Council's Community Safety team who are providing refuse bags, high-visibility waistcoats, gloves and litter-pickers.

Town mayor Gina Burrows said: "Ours is a lovely town and it's a sh
ame if it gets spoilt by litter or weeds. After the dull days of winter, let's make our town sparkle this springtime."

In addition individuals are encouraged to bring their own tools to tackle weeds and to note down anything out of place that they cannot handle themselves i.e. broken kerbs, abandoned cars, fly-tipping, dangerous refuse etc. All such notes will be passed on to the relevant authority by the Town Clerk's staff.

Even if people can not take part, they can let the team know places which need especial attention.

The clean up will take place on Friday April 4, Saturday April 5 and Sunday April 6.

People who would like to sign up should contact the Town Clerk's office on 01608 642341 or e-mail gmburrows@hotmail.com.

Alternatively turn up at the Lower Town Hall at 10am, 12pm, 2pm or 4pm on any of the days to join the Spring Clean task force.
