THE eighth annual Banbury Beer Festival which ran last week was the most successful to date.
Organised by the North Oxfordshire branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), the three-day event saw 1,600 people get through more than 6,300 pints of beer, cider and perry - pear cider.

Last year, 4,000 pints were consumed. All 80 varieties of drink sold out this time, with organisers opting for a North West theme to recognise Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture.

A full report on the event will be in this week's Banbury Guardian, on sale Thursday.
