GRIMSBURY and Orchard Way post offices will definitely close as part of plans to cut back Post Office services.
Post Office Ltd today announced decisions on the future of branches across Oxfordshire following a six-week public consultation exercise, which ended on March 17.

Grimsbury post office manager Carol Vockins said: "We are very disappointed because we had a great deal of support and we don't believe they (Post Office Ltd] got their facts right from the beginning.

"I feel the decision had already been made but we had to give it a whirl and the local residents have been very supportive.

"With all the expansion around Grimsbury it seems crazy to close and we're really disappointed because there's been a post office here for at least the past 50 years."

The post office will close on June 6 and staff have been offered the chance to transfer to other branches.

Outreach services will replace post offices in Enstone, Great Rollright and Great Tew.

Under the cuts, Post Office services will be provided through a network of 291 branches.

The plan confirmed today means that 47 branches will close in Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire.
