Moviegoers celebrated a year of Senior Screen with coffee, cake and a showing of the double Bafta winning film Amelie, it was reported in the Banbury Guardian on March 7, 2002.
Not only pensioners were enjoying the weekly Wednesday morning showings and staff at the Odeon cinema in Banbury said all were welcome. About 170 people gathered at the cinema in Horsefair on the Wednesday before to see Amelie and enjoy cake and sausage rolls in honour of the Senior Screen’s first birthday.
Marion Scott from Deddington said: “It is very thoughtful of the cinema to organise Senior Screen. Because it is only £2 there are people who come who wouldn’t be able to afford the ordinary cinema prices.”
