FAIRPORT'S Cropredy Convention 2008 is into its second day with fields and campsites filling up nicely.
Following Supergrass last night (Thursday), folk-rockers The Levellers will bring today's proceedings to a close with a hotly anticipated set.

Tickets are still available for anyone wanting to take in the ambience at what is billed as 'Britain's f
riendliest festival', but potential punters are being urged to check availability at www.fairportconvention.co.uk before setting off.

Festival spokesman Andy Farquarson is optimistic for a rousing finale to tonight's action.

He said: "Today has gone really smoothly, the weather's held and we have seen some really great acts.

"The organisation has run as smoothly as we could have wished.

"Everyone in the whole field is waiting for tonight's headliners - we have wanted to get The Levellers here for years."

Tomorrow (Saturday) marks the final day of this year's event, with the traditional closing slot from Fairport Convention plus guests, whose identities remain a closely guarded secret.

Mr Farquarson added: "We are really looking forward to tomorrow – we have a real mixed bag of acts playing."

Visit www.banburyguardian.co.uk for further Cropredy updates and exclusive interviews throughout the weekend and see Thursday's Banbury Guardian for a full report of the festival.
