Want to check out danger roads? There’s a map for that

Although Britain enjoys one of the best road safety records in the world, road traffic accidents are still common.

Now the accident claims division of law firm Osbornes has created a map which allows people to enter details of their own collision and highlights the number of road accidents that happen on our roads each day; some of them right on your doorstep.

You can view the map by clicking here

The map contains information from the government’s Road Safety Accident Dataset and allows visitors to log details of accidents they were involved in. It includes various accident circumstances and demographics, such as whether a pedestrian, bicycle or other vehicle was involved, how serious the incident was, the age range and gender of those involved, the weather conditions at the time, and the speed limit at the accident location.

The map also allows visitors to view accident clusters; a facility which highlights the shocking number of road accidents in the UK every year.

With the Road Traffic Map, Accident Claims hope to provide people with an easy-to-use source of information which can be used for campaigning to local councils for improvements to roads to be made. Should an accident trend appear in an area, map data can be presented to local MP’s or council representatives to call for action.
